Exped’s Skyline range of packs, new for 2025, are optimised for walking and trekking, but are also versatile enough to be used for other outdoor activities as well as for everyday use. The range consists of 12L, 20L, 30L and 45L versions and all models share common features such as the use of bluesign® certified outer material made of robust, recycled polyester, a hydration system where access to the compartment is accessible from the outside, an ergonomically shaped Air Flow back system, a front elastic mesh ‘stash’ pocket, and an integrated rain cover with a reflective logo. In addition to the common features, the four packs in the range are tweaked to provide the best combination of features for activities such as short day hikes, to multi-day backpacking trips.

L-R: Skyline 12L, 20L, 30L and 45L
Meet the family
The baby of the Skyline family is the Skyline 12L (£100), an ultra-compact and versatile pack designed for short and light hikes and multisports, but is also ideal for everyday duties too. The ergonomically shaped Air Flow back system is flexible and adapts to your back, no matter the situation. The slim shape as well as the body-hugging fit ensure a high degree of comfort. Soft, breathable shoulder straps and a stowable hip belt provide optimal support. The convenient large zipper opening runs from one side to far down the other side and offers quick and easy access to the main compartment. Practical and carefully-positioned mesh pockets inside the pack and on shoulder straps provide easy organisation for small items of equipment. On the outside, a small zippered pocket as well as two sides and front elastic mesh pockets provide more storage space. In addition, the backpack has a convenient attachment if you need to carry a helmet.
Moving up in size, the Skyline 20L (£110) offers the same feature set as the 12L, but with that bit more volume making it ideal for day hikes, scrambles and bike tours, as well as everyday use. Again, we see the ‘wrap-around’ main zipper that makes accessing items anywhere in the pack easy. Moving up again to the Skyline 30L (£155), this model is a comfortable and versatile daypack for a more substantial load. It is ideal for demanding hikes or multi-day trail tours. Again we see the ergonomically-shaped Air Flow back system, however we now get an adjustable back length, and its padded hip straps and internal lightweight steel frame ensure ideal load transfer to the back and hips. The soft, breathable shoulder straps, slim shape and close fit provide additional comfort.

Skyline packs are ideal for walking, scrambling and everyday use
Lastly, the largest model in the range, the Skyline 45 (£185), is a versatile and spacious pack with a roll-top closure and lid pocket. It is ideal for longer hikes or long-distance treks. The ergonomically -shaped Air Flow back system sits comfortably on your back. Like the 30L, the adjustable back, padded hip straps and the internal lightweight steel frame ensure ideal load transfer to the back and hips. The pack’s lid pocket can be easily removed and used as a belt pouch for rapid summit dashes, or just left at home to save weight. Featuring the high build quality and use of premium materials that Exped are renowned for, the only question remaining is: which model suits you best?
