New database of Spanish walking routes

Digital StillCamera

A new resource has been released by Costa Blanca Mountain Walkers listing detailed information about hikes across Spain.

Using an interactive map, it’s possible to find walks in specific areas covered by the website (though we’re told that some regions have yet to be completed and viewable). After choosing an area, you are given a choice of towns with walks near by – then each town section is populated with a list of routes near by.

The information for each route is intended to be a useful resource for anyone looking to go hiking in Spain. The most detailed descriptions for some routes include starting point coordinates, area covered, grade, length, ascent, completion time, walking time, restrictions and recommendations, plus a short written description and photos. A full-detail description and GPS mapping file are also available to download. Costa Blanca Mountain Walkers emphasise that this is a work in progress however, and that not all walks include this level of detail. Feedback from visitors is also encouraged, with a form at the bottom of each route description.
