Nepalese winter provides best photo opportunities

Adventure travel specialists World Expeditions are encouraging walkers and photographers alike to visit Nepal during the quiet winter months for the best photo opportunities.

Winter trips throughout January and February are said to offer the best conditions for shots of the mighty Himalaya, due to the contrast of clear blue skies and snow-capped mountains, in addition to being much quieter for treks with significantly less crowds.

Walkers can choose from a range of itineraries with World Expeditions to discover the area, including their 15 day Trek Annapurna and Everest trip, designed to give first time trekkers an introduction to Nepal’s highest mountains, the 12 day Tamang Heritage Trail Experience, a little explored route near the Tibetan border with panoramic peak views, or the 17 day long Gokyo Lakes tour, a high altitude trek into the Everest region heading west to discover these turquoise pools.

Other options include the 15 day Sherpa Everest trek, a route weaving through Buddhist villages and monasteries of the Sherpa people with camping beneath Ama Dablam, or Annapurna Machapuchare, a remote 13 day adventure into the high alpine forests and wilderness surrounding the base of Machapuchare.

World Expeditions UK Manager, Gordon Steer, said:  ‘’Winter in Nepal offers photographers of all capabilities and experience the idea conditions to capture the beautiful, if not awe-inspiring, atmosphere of the Himalaya. There is no mugginess, no leeches, no mud or dust and the weather is purely cool and crisp, allowing for spectacular vistas everywhere you look.’’

Trips offer multiple departure dates for Winter 2014, with prices starting from £1,140 per person.
