Trek & Mountain » About

The magazine

Trek & MountainTrek & Mountain was launched in November 2009 to fill the yawning gap in the outdoors press for a magazine dedicated to worldwide trekking and mountaineering. Although there were, and are, some very good titles that cover hillwalking and rock climbing in the UK, there was no magazine dedicated to the thousands of trekkers and mountaineers that head off every year for adventures in the world’s great mountain ranges. Our aim was to not only bring our readers inspiring reports from the Alps, the Andes, the Himalayas and beyond, but also to help them improve their  mountain knowledge and skills, and make them aware of what brands and products they should be looking at when buying kit for their adventures.

Our readers

Trek & Mountain readersWhether they are planning their first trek up Kili, their first ascent of Mont Blanc, or their first high altitude climb in the Himalayas, all our readers have one thing in common – they’re obsessed with mountains! Learning and self-improvement is a big theme of Trek & Mountain, with our readers hungry for the knowledge that will allow them to take on ever more ambitious objectives. Everyone has their own limits and ambitions, of  course, but whatever our readers aspire to – whether it’s hiking a long-distance trail, or getting to the top of Everest, we do our best to help them achieve their goals and dreams.

Our writers

Trek & Mountain writers

Providing advice and information on mountain activities is not to be taken lightly, and we ensure we use the most knowledgeable experts in the business  to ensure the information that appears in Trek & Mountain is trustworthy. Our writers range from Everest summiteers, to qualified Mountain Guides and Leaders, doctors and guidebook authors – all people who are all qualified to write about the subjects they are covering. We tend to use people who are mountain professionals first, writers second – people who are out there ‘doing it’ day in, day out – rather than outdoor industry hacks.
